The Wolfsburg 648’s design is inspired by car radios installed in production vehicles from around 2008 onwards, but its technology meets all current standards. It is specifically designed for VW, Skoda, and Seat vehicles. Its design, button layout, and display integration reflect the design sensibilities of the 2010s vehicle generation, allowing for seamless integration into existing dashboards. This positions the device as a classic retro radio for older vehicles, but with modern infotainment features.
At the heart of its technical features is comprehensive smartphone connectivity. The new car radio supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both wired and wirelessly via Bluetooth, including voice assistant support. Navigation applications, music and streaming services, as well as telephone and hands-free functions can be conveniently used via the car radio and operated using the 7-inch touchscreen.
Connectivity and Superior Sound
The Wolfsburg 648 delivers the balanced sound signature typical of Blaupunkt. It features a Blaupunkt high-end tuner that supports FM, AM, and DAB/DAB+. External devices can also be connected via USB or AV input. The integrated amplifier section provides 4x 45 watts of output power at 4 ohms. Designed for flexible use, the audio technology offers extensive options for adapting to different speaker configurations and vehicle acoustics, including a 12-band equalizer, a loudness function, and various sound presets. In addition to four speaker outputs, the Wolfsburg 648 has four RCA preamp outputs and a separate subwoofer output.
For seamless integration into the vehicle, this classic car radio offers comprehensive CAN bus connectivity. This enables, among other things, the use of the original steering wheel controls and the integration of vehicle-specific information such as ignition, lighting, speed signal, park distance control, and climate control. In addition, there is a reversing camera input that can be controlled via CAN as well as via an analog reversing signal.
